About this Resource

This great video from Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario teaches how to use simple sweet solutions to create comfort and calm during needle pokes for babies. The research demonstrates that this is a powerful way to reduce pain and distress. For best effect, give the sweet 1-2 minutes before the needle and then again immediately before each injection. If you are breastfeeding, breastfeeding your baby before, during, and after injections reduces pain in babies. You learn about the how to of that here.

A really big shout and thank to Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), CHEO Research Institute, University of Ottawa Be Sweet to Babies team (led by Dr. Denise Harrison)
